About

Well, I have finally decided to put a little bit of information about me here.  If you want to know more, go to my very first blog entry under the category “Introduction” and entitled “Hang On Ol’ Buddy, Here We Go.”

I choose not to use my name or the names of my family members.  I don’t know why, I’m just weird that way.

In a synopsis, I am a follower of Jesus Christ who wants to pursue Him with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.  I want to abide in Him and live everyday to please Him.  John 15 is my favorite chapter in the Bible.

I have been happily married to a wonderful woman for 15 years.  We met in college.  Actually, she arranged it to where she got my name in the “adopt a Freshman” program.  It was a “God thing” because we were made for each other.  I had to go to various beef packing plants to do research when I was in college and she went many times so we could spend time together.  Her stepdad told her mom that if she would do that kind of stuff just to spend time with me, we were going to get married.  He was right!  She is an awesome wife, mother, cook, and servant of Jesus Christ.  I can’t imagine doing life with anyone else.

We have four great kids.  Three girls (10, 7, and 5) and a boy (2).  They keep us hopping.  They each have their own individual personalities and gifts, and I enjoy time spent with each one.  Our oldest loves sports, swimming, the outdoors, and hanging with the boys.  She also loves school, and is really good at math and spelling.  Our second daughter is more artsy.  She can find beauty in about anything.  She is also good at school, and enjoys sports on occasion.  Our youngest daughter gets excited about lots of things and has an incredible amount of energy.  She has often been described as having dancing eyes.  She is good at bringing out the smiles in those around her.  This summer, she has become quite the waterbug.  At five, she is not afraid to go off of the high dive or swim in the deep end.  Our son has rocked our world.  He is so different.  He hasn’t slept through the night very many times since he was about eight weeks old…  He loves to play “big trucks” and be outside.  Tractors and large equipment fascinate him.  Most recently, he has a real interest in tools.  He would stay outside all the time, if that was an option.  He also loves for us to read books to him at nap and bedtime.  His favorite book is his “God Jesus” book, which is what he calls his story Bible.

Next to our family, our mission in life is to minister to single parent families.  My wife and I were both raised at least some time in a single parent family, and we know the unique struggles and challenges that face them.  My parents divorced when I was 5, and my dad wasn’t around much.  I was blessed to have my Grandpa, Uncle, and a few others in my life.  My mom also did a wonderful job.  She taught us unconditional love, and we enjoy a great relationship to this day.  She remarried when I was about 9.  My stepdad taught me a lot, but I’ve just recently begun to appreciate what he really did for me.  My wife’s dad died in an accident when she was 10.  We often call her mom, MacGyver.  I don’t know that there is anything she can’t do, or at least won’t try!  As a single mom, she was very resourceful, and raised her children well.

My wife has a degree in chemistry, and was a chemist until our oldest was 6 months old, at which time she left the work force to be a stay-at-home mom.  We have never regretted this decision.  She did daycare out of the house for several years.  I worked in research and development for a meat company for 9 years before accepting the call into ministry.  It has been a much better fit.  God has provided for us in amazing ways.  Who knows over the course of time, I’ll go back and blog about some of those past stories that have had an impact on our lives.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to comment on any of the entries.

God Bless!

Most of my time as a single parent I didn’t have a very good relationship with God It would have been so nice to have had something like this to read for encouragement! How awesome that this is what you and your wife are focused on ministering to! What I’ve seen of your blog is great, I’m adding it to my blog roll so others can see it and be blessed. God is good!
